It is planned to attract $30 billion of investments into the geology and mining industry of Uzbekistan by 2030
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the presentation on the implementation of digital solutions and artificial intelligence technologies in the mining industry and geology, reportedpress service of the head of state.
As noted at the presentation, in the next five years, Uzbekistan intends to increase gold reserves by 879 tons, silver by 510 tons, and copper by 676 thousand tons.
By 2030, it is planned to attract $30 billion of investments into the industry. “To do this, first of all, it is necessary to create a high-quality and reliable digital database in accordance with the requirements of investors,” the message says.
In this regard, it was proposed to create a National Geological Database. As part of this process, a Center for Technological Transformation will be created, more than 36 thousand reports and primary data will be transferred to digital format. According to experts, this will double the quality and speed of generating geological data, modeling deposits and calculating reserves.
According to the authorities, artificial intelligence technologies will speed up the analysis of geological data, forecast mineral deposits, estimate reserves and increase the efficiency of drilling operations. In this regard, AI-based solutions are planned to be implemented at all stages of the geological exploration process.
The President emphasized the need to bring the technological transformation of the industry to a new level and create a system for managing and analyzing production processes based on artificial intelligence.
It was noted that in the field of geology and mining, large amounts of data are generated, including maps, geological exploration results, drilling data, laboratory tests and production indicators. Their integration into a single electronic database with the ability to analyze and use 3D models should increase the efficiency of searching for new deposits.
It is expected that thanks to these measures, the cost of production will be reduced by 10%, the time frame for opening new fields will be reduced by 2 times, and the number of investment proposals will be increased by 4 times.
In 2026-2030, it is planned to implement 44 projects to introduce artificial intelligence and digital technologies in the field of geology and in the work of six large enterprises - Navoi and Almalyk mining and metallurgical plants, Navoiuran, Uzmetkombinat, Uzbekugol and the Uzbek technological metals plant.
Projects cover automation of production processes, digitalization of corporate governance, implementation of AI, ensuring labor and industrial safety, as well as digital transformation of geological exploration.
It is expected that their implementation will increase operational efficiency by 7%, reliability of machinery and equipment by 20%, and energy efficiency by 8%. It is also predicted that errors and risks associated with human factors will be reduced by 15%. It was noted that in the future these solutions need to be patented.
Based on the results of the presentation, responsible persons were instructed to provide measures to improve the efficiency of production and labor resources when preparing business plans for industry enterprises, as well as to approve separate programs for projects in the field of technology and artificial intelligence.
