Development of a new coal deposit has begun in Surkhandarya region

Uzbekistan, Tashkent – AN Podrobno.uz. In the Baysun district of the Surkhandarya region, the development of a new coal deposit has begun, a Podrobno.uz correspondent reports with reference to a report by the Uzbekistan-24 TV channel.

At the moment, specialists are laying an adit and preparing infrastructure for coal mining in the southern part of the Baysun coal mine. The field area will be about 220 hectares. According to preliminary data, coal reserves at this deposit exceed 4 million tons, while the cost of the first stage of the project is estimated at $60 million.

At the first stage, it is planned to extract about 50 thousand tons of coal per year. At the second stage, it is planned to attract additional $55 million in foreign investment and significantly increase the volume of solid fuel production.
