Two gold mines of Uzbekistan are among the five largest in the world
Uzbekistan, Tashkent – AN Podrobno.uz. In 2024, the Uzbek Muruntau and Almalyk deposits were among the five largest gold mines in the world. Combined production from these operations exceeded 3.8 million ounces.
According to Statista, the Muruntau mine, located in the Navoi region, produced 2.7 million ounces of gold, ranking second in the world ranking. Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Combine (AMMC) with a production volume of 1.1 million ounces took fifth position.
It is noted that 2024 was a special year for the global gold market: geopolitical tensions, economic instability and the policies of central banks to increase gold reserves influenced the rise in prices. As a result, the price of the metal reached record levels.
The top five largest gold mines also included Nevada Gold Mines (USA), Grasberg (Indonesia) and Olympics (Russia).
Experts note that the dynamics of prices for precious metals has intensified against the backdrop of threats from Washington, which from November 1 plans to increase duties on Chinese products to 100% and introduce export controls on software.
