A memorandum was signed between the governments of Uzbekistan and the United States to ensure the reliability of supplies in the field of extraction and processing of critical minerals and rare earths.
Uzbekistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Bakhtiyor Saidov took part in the ministerial meeting on critical minerals in Washington (USA).
We participated in the ministerial meeting on critical minerals — a timely and substantive platform that brought partners together to discuss the future of sustainable, secure and reliable supply chains for critical minerals, the Foreign Minister’s statement said.
It was noted that Uzbekistan has significant potential in this field and is committed to developing the sector in line with high international standards — transparency, environmental responsibility and high value-added production.
We reaffirm our readiness to further deepen cooperation with international partners, attract advanced technologies and investments, and support the transition to clean energy, the statement reads.
Bakhtiyor Saidov met with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
In addition to bilateral agenda issues, the most pressing global challenges were discussed. It was noted that the recently established Peace Council is becoming an effective platform for promoting stability and prosperity in conflict-affected regions.
A meeting was also held with U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau.
Our discussions focused on the implementation of agreements reached at the highest level. The sides also exchanged views on the 2026 bilateral agenda, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries.
Saidov and Landau signed a memorandum of understanding to ensure reliable supply in the field of extraction and processing of critical minerals.
We view critical minerals not only as an economic opportunity, but also as an area of responsible partnership and long-term sustainable development, the statement said.
